Cold Process Soap Workshop 101 for total beginners

You'll learn how to make cold process soap with Jenny, of Jade Soap Shop. She will take you through every step with clear instructions in a supportive class environment.

You'll learn the science behind cold process soap making and learn how to handle lye safely. Everything you need from tools and supplies will be available to you in class. You can choose to bring your own mold or reserve a silicone mold as an extra. You'll also learn how to use scents and add color to your soap.

Once you're done, you'll have plenty of natural, handmade soap to take home and enjoy.

Knowledge required:

Beginner-friendly, no soap making experience is required.

What you'll get:

A loaf of 2-pound soap you make in-class, which is about 9-10 bars if cutting 1-inch thick pieces.

What you need to bring:

• A face mask (strongly suggested. So you can protect your face while blending the materials)
• A thick towel for wrapping and keeping the soap insulated on your way home
• The disposable apron and gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring yours.
• Your safety goggles or eye glasses, or use what we provide.

What you'll get:

• A loaf of soap that you make in-class (over 2 pound)
• A simple one-time-use soap mold will be provided, you can bring your own soap mold (holds at least 36 oz) or purchase the mold at our shop.
• A handout with the recipe.

What you will learn at this workshop:

• Science and knowledge of cold process soap making.
• Dealing with Lye safely and properly
• Tools and Materials/Ingredients required for soap making.
• Basic coloring and scenting skills.
• Step-by-Step cold process soap making procedure.

What you need to know about the workshop/class:

• We will be working with a chemical called "Sodium hydroxide (lye) " (Lye is used in the saponification process to turn oil into soap - no sodium hydroxide remains in the finished product.) Please be extra careful while handling the materials in class. (The teacher will handle it mostly, but still, please be careful!)
• THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR anybody who's at least 18 years old and older and it requires your full attention while making the cold process soap.
• No pets or kids allowed in the workshop for safety's sake.
• No food or alcoholic drinks allowed in-class.
• No walk-ins or sit-ins will be allowed for safety's sake.
• The reservation needs to be made and paid in advance, for we need to prepare everything in advance. Thank you for your understanding.
