COLD CONNECTIONS with Chris Darway
One-Day Workshop at DAM Studio
Sunday, September 20 | 10am–5pm | $199 (+$20 materials fee paid to Chris at class)
Join master metalsmith Chris Darway for a hands-on introduction to cold connections — the art of joining metal without a torch. In this one-day class, you'll explore a full sampler of techniques including mushroom, tube, flush, and invisible rivets, as well as 8-80 machine screws, hex, slotted, and cap screws. You'll also learn how to make your own threaded wire and tap a hole using a die.
Working in 1" x 3", 20-gauge brass and copper sheet, you'll walk away with your own finished sampler plate as a reference piece.
Chris Darway is an artist, metalsmith, teacher and designer with over 40 years experience in the field, formally trained in craft design at the Philadelphia College of Art. He has sold his work through galleries, shops, and craft shows over the years, and his work has been exhibited in Japan, Germany, and England. Longtime friends of DAM Studio, we're thrilled to welcome Chris back to teach!
