Johnson “AJ” US Army Pacific, Assistant Chief of Staff, G6 Colonel Alton Johnson, a Florida native, graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, and was commissioned through ROTC as a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps in 1997.

COL Johnson’s civilian education includes a Bachelor's of Science in Industrial Engineering from Florida A & M University; Master of Arts in Information Technology from the University of Maryland; Master of Arts in Management and Leadership from Webster University; and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College.
COL Johnson’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal 2 Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal 4 OLC, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, Korea Defense Service Medal, Senior Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Signal Regiment’s Bronze Order of Mercury. His foreign decorations include the French Parachutist Badge.
COL Johnson is married to LTC (Ret) Thwana Johnson and they have four children, Acori (27), Ashley (24), Alton Jr. (18) and Alijah (14).
