COURSE OVERVIEW
Come explore the world of CMMs in this 3-Day course. Whether you are a new employee to PW, new to the world of metrology and CMMs, or just looking for refresher training, this course will provide familiarity with CMMs which are the gold standard in the metrology world against which other equipment is correlated. The goals of this class are to provide the student with basic information on metrology and inspection related to CMMs including how to use them properly to achieve accurate and repeatable results utilizing sound metrology practices. This course will help individuals gain an understanding how CMMs and CMM software packages function. Due to this new understanding, the student’s confidence in the use of the CMM and programming packages will increase. They will be able to identify and avoid the common errors seen throughout the industry and determine if the inspection programs were created in an organized and robust manner.
TARGET AUDIENCE
PW Inspectors, Quality engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Supplier Quality Engineers/Representatives. Anyone involved with dimensional inspection, gage correlations, planning out manufacturing processes, and first article inspection reviews.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, students should have a fundamental understanding of:
- What a CMM is and how they work.
- Why customers use a CMM.
- Basic Metrology concepts related to CMMs
- CMM programming concepts
- Probing systems along with the use and Calibration of the probes
- Simple inspection and measurement techniques
- Good programming styles and practices
- Accuracy vs. precision
