About this Event
(Part 1 of 2) This continuing education event teaches participants the theory and basic skills of Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy and specifically focuses on behavioral interventions. Participants will learn methods for developmental assessment and selection of appropriate Play Therapy behavioral interventions to target treatment goals. Participants will practice behavioral Play Therapy skills and interventions in an interactive learning format.
Training will be live and in-person only.

1. Recite the core theoretical concepts of Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy
2. Demonstrate basic knowledge of Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy methods and skills
3. Utilize cognitive Play Therapy interventions to target treatment goals
4. Apply cognitive Play Therapy interventions to practice through discussion of case examples
5. Differentiate between traditional verbal Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive-behavioral Play Therapy which utilizes the therapeutic powers of play
6. Assess when behavioral interventions form Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy may be an effective intervention for treatment

Participation
A Time for Play Therapy Continuing Education events are professional trainings developed for master's level mental health clinicians and students. Prior Play Therapy knowledge and experience are helpful but not necessary to participate. Play Therapy credit available to mental health professionals and graduate students in a mental health program.
Handouts
Each registration for an A Time for Play Continuing Education includes limited time access to a Google Drive folders with handouts specific to the training. It also includes a folder of suggested readings of articles, book excerpts, and research that are specifically relevant to the Play Therapy training topic. Please make sure you are able to access and download the materials.
Virtual Attendance
Per APT guidelines, virtually attendees must keep your cameras on and be present and focused throughout the entire presentation. This guideline is especially important because there are several interactive activities and breakout discussions that require group participation.
Post-Test and Evaluation
Participants will be given a post-test and an anonymous evaluation to complete at the end of each training. Participants must attest to completing the evaluation and must meet a minimum score of 80% to receive Continuing Education credit.

Registration refunds will NOT be made to parties who register but do not attend or do not request a refund from the organizer 24 hours in advance.

A Time for Play reserves the right to cancel any of these training in the event of unforeseen circumstances. If such a cancellation occurs, A Time for Play will attempt to notify registrants and refund all registration fees.

This Continuing Education event is acceptable for the purposes of license renewal for Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists in the state of Texas by fully complying with Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council guidelines and Texas Administrative Code RULE §781.501, RULE §681.142, & RULE §801.261
The Association for Play Therapy sets the credentialing standards for Play Therapists and approves applications for the Registered Play Therapist Credential.
