About this Event
Join us at A Place at the Table on June 12th at 9am for what is promised to be a great conversation led by Maggie Kane and Chris Abell!
Maggie Kane first and foremost has a passion for loving people. Full on hype queen, she is a speaker, entrepreneur, and Executive Director with a special focus in nonprofits and small, killer coffee shops. 8 years ago, Maggie founded A Place at the Table, Raleigh’s, NC’s pay-what-you-can nonprofit cafe, which has fed thousands of humans some incredible food, and an even better community. She believes strongly in the power of unconventional communities and showing everyone she meets that they have a place at the table.
Chris Abell is a community and nonprofit leader with a background in program design, technology education, and organizational leadership. He previously co-founded the Maryland Apprenticeship Connector (MAC) and served as the Workforce Board Director for Western Maryland, where he focused on creating career pathways in engineering, technology, and government. Throughout his career, he has focused on making sense of complex systems and connecting traditionally siloed sectors to improve digital equity and sustainable change management. In his current role as the Wake County VISTA Coordinator, he supports relationship and capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving food systems in Wake County.
