On the first day of CodaFest, Chris Rottmayer Quartet is opening for the festival at 5 PM. The quartet will perform original music, with a few choice arrangements and covers.Chris Rottmayer- Piano/Leader

Chris is a jazz pianist, composer, and jazz vibraphonist living in Madison, Wisconsin. Chris has been a freelance jazz pianist since 1990, was a pianist for Walt Disney World from 1999 to 2020, and has released three albums as a leader: Reactive Synthesis (2013), Sunday at Pilars (2019), and So In Love (2020). Chris is currently the Instructor of Jazz Piano at the University of South Florida, where he has taught since 2007, and is pursuing a DMA in Piano Performance at the University of Wisconsin- Madison where he holds a Teaching Assistantship in the Theory department.

As a highly versatile performer, Kelsey is a lead vocalist with funk and rock groups, maintains a private studio of vocal students, and enjoys performing her own jazz projects throughout the Denver metro area. As an educator, Kelsey’s pedagogical approaches include Body Mapping and Laban Movement Analysis, jazz improvisation, music theory. She plays piano as a secondary instrument.

Dr. Matthew Endres is the teaching professor of drum set and jazz history at the University of Wisconsin, and is the UW Marching Band Percussion Coordinator. In addition, he adjudicates music festivals and competitions extensively throughout the United States. He received his bachelor of music degree in drum set at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, his master’s degree in jazz studies from the University of Illinois, and his doctoral degree in jazz studies and ethnomusicology at the University of Illinois.

Clark Sommers completed his undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies and World Music at California Institute of the Arts in 2002, where he studied with bass masters Charlie Haden and Darek Oles. While living in Los Angeles, Clark performed with Leo Smith, Vinny Golia, The Charlie Haden Liberation Orchestra, Joe La Barbara and Larry Koonse. Additionally, Clark completed a masters degree in Jazz Composition in 2021 from DePaul University.
