This event is to participate in a cocktail class and WATCH a glassblowing demonstration. If you would like to try glassblowing, you may click to sign up for one of our glassblowing courses.

Join local cocktail historian Beth Vandergrift in the Michigan Room at the Glass Academy for an evening of stories, cocktails, and a live interactive glass-blowing demonstration. We’ll begin by learning to make (and then enjoying) the classic Moscow Mule, while discussing the history of the cocktail and how vodka came to the US. Then we’ll move to the Hot Shop to watch the artists create the very glassware we’ll be drinking from in the class. We’ll return to the Michigan Room to make the second cocktail of the evening, Audrey Saunder’s Gin-Gin Mule. Guests will leave with the recipes used in the class, an appreciation of glass making, and a few more stories to share! Must be 21+ to attend.

This is not just a tasting — it’s a guided, interactive experience where you’ll build each cocktail yourself while learning techniques you can easily recreate at home.

During the class, you’ll also experience something you won’t find anywhere else — live glassblowing happening right alongside your cocktails!

As you mix and sip, our glass artists will be shaping molten glass in real time. You’ll feel the heat, hear the tools, and witness the transformation from liquid to solid — adding a layer of energy and artistry that turns your night into more than a class… it becomes a full sensory experience tied directly to what’s in your glass.

Every drink is served in handblown glassware made right here in our studio, turning each pour into part of the art.

Learn more: When was vodka introduced to the US? How are Smirnoff vodka and A1 Steak Sauce historically linked? What gives gin its distinctive flavor? Where did the nickname "Dutch Courage" come from? Join us on January 29th to find out!
