Cahaba Theatre Group presents Lee Blessing’s COBB at historic Rickwood Field, bringing one of baseball’s most complicated legends into the very kind of place where his story still echoes.
In COBB, three versions of Ty Cobb confront one another across time, joined by Negro Leagues great Oscar Charleston. What follows is a sharp, theatrical examination of ambition, race, memory, reputation, and the uneasy distance between a man and the legend built around him.
Performed at historic Rickwood Field, the oldest professional baseball park in the United States, this special production places Blessing’s drama inside a setting that gives the story added weight and resonance.
A portion of ticket sales from this production will go toward supporting historic Rickwood Field, allowing audiences to experience an unforgettable afternoon of theatre while also helping support one of Birmingham’s great cultural landmarks.
