Coalition for Immigrant Mental Health's 4th Annual Convening

Migrants gamble on the humanity of those who receive them at their point of destination and their reception and integration are inherently sociopolitical and socially embedded. Their mixed reception in destination communities highlights the critical role of social support, formal (agencies/organizations) and informal (volunteer groups) to migrant integration and mental health in these communities. Lack or low levels of social support are associated with psychological distress.

This convening will focus on the mental health implications of international and regional responses to migrants and those who work on their behalf and the critical role of formal and informal social supports. We want to highlight the formal (public programs, policies, initiatives) and the more informal (community folks coming together, & migrants creating community) and the folks that fall somewhere in between (grassroots organized groups) while also highlighting the need for social support for the folks who do this work.

The convening will start off with a keynote panel, followed by morning and afternoon breakout sessions, and will conclude with a performance by .
