Hello DDG Friends, I love disc golf, and the disc golf community, and on Saturday, October 12th I am hosting another "Introduction to Disc Golf Clinic" to share the love of the sport with Expanding Options, Inc, a non-profit organization supporting social needs of Autistic adults & their families. I am looking for friendly folks willing to lend their time, talent, and company for a couple hours.
The format I have used in the past includes a brief instruction & warm up session to review rules, etiquette, and basic form followed by a friendly doubles round where I'd like to partner each ExpO Member with a DDG Member. That's where YOU can help! These days are just as much about the company and conversation as they are about disc golf, so don't worry if you're new to the sport too. The more the merrier! ?
Autistic folks may experience the world differently than their neurotypical peers, but it is a myth that Autistic folks do not wish for meaningful peer connections. We all need human connection. Individuals with disabilities, and their families, are all too often isolated from their community. This is an opportunity to be inclusive on purpose, while sharing our love of Disc Golf!
Disc golf quickly became a staple in my life, like it has for many of you. We have built a community and numerous friendships and connections all from a shared love of Disc Golf. I am asking for a few hours to share that love with others. If you are available to participate, please use the handy dandy going, interested, or decline feature for the event. ;) I will be asking ExpO members to register with me too as I hope to be able to have enough volunteers for each Expo member.
As always, thank you. And see you on the course.
How Expanding Options (ExpO) Began:
“Recognizing a need, parents and caregivers formed ExpO to provide a social group where post-high school adults can meet for fun activities and work together to improve the skills they need to flourish in work and life.”
