If you have been interested in learning more about cold water immersion or just want to push yourself a bit, consider joining our community for a cold water plunge. This isn't a "jump in and sprint out" sort of plunge, instead, we all go into the water together, just over our shoulders, and adjust to the cold while we talk catch up with each other. We will be meeting up at Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park every Sunday morning, rain or shine, and usually don't stay in longer than 10-15 minutes, depending on how our bodies are doing and what time of year it is. If you need to get out of the water earlier than that we are here to support you in listening to your own body and its limits. Because this event isn't dads-only you are more than welcome to bring the family along as long as they can be entertained beach-side (or join in) while we plunge. If this is your first time, please be sure to be there by 715 so we can walk you through some safety tips and how to get in and out of the water. Listening to your body is far more important than trying to see how long you can stay in before succumbing to hypothermia :D It is recommended that you come with a change of warm clothes, a towel, and a warm beverage to get your core temp back up after you dry off. Because there are no on-site lifeguards in place we all treat this as an "enter at your own risk" event, though we will all do our best to be safe and never go in alone.
