About this Event
Join us for a night of examining joy and exploring how to translate it through artistic expression 🎨
This workshop will be led by mental health clinicians (Laur)en Edwards, MSW, MPH, LSWAIC (they/them), Sheena Nicolay, MFT Intern (she/her) and Zi Li Strzelecki, MSW, LSWAIC (they/them).
We will engage in intuitive, process-oriented art-making through collage materials, reflective journaling, and studio art practices. Now more than ever, we hope to offer a space where people can reflect, connect, and experience joy together through art and community.
✨️Laur's Bio:
Laur (they/them) is a therapist with a background in clinical social work and community-oriented public health. They have supported children, adults, and families across research, hospital, and community settings, including eating disorder care and exposure-based treatment for OCD and anxiety. Laur values working at the intersection of individual healing and systemic change and believes in the power of evidence-based, holistic, and strengths-based care. As a queer, neurodivergent, transracial and transnational Chinese adoptee, they are deeply committed to providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and affirming care. Laur is especially passionate about working alongside BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, and adoptee communities, approaching their work with curiosity, empathy, and a strong equity lens. Outside of work, Laur enjoys spending quality time with friends and in nature, going to the gym, and creating art.
✨️Sheena's Bio:
Sheena Nicolay (she/her) is therapist intern, and is currently completing her MA in couple and family therapy at Antioch University in Seattle. She is a second generation Filipina, has been deepening her connection to the matriarchal lineage of her Babayan ancestors. Growing up as a bi-cultural kid, she has always held a sense of wonder and curiosity for the world around her. This led her to pursue a degree in microbiology, which has been the foundation to her work as a systemic therapist. Sheena's work is rooted in anti-oppression and decolonial values and focuses on multicultural relationships and identity. When she's not working or studying, you can find her spending time in nature with her partner, Ryan, and dog, Casco, getting lost in a good book/story, and creating art.
✨️Zi Li's Bio:
Zi Li (they/them) is a licensed Associate Therapist with a background in clinical social work. Zi Li identifies as a queer, non-binary, transracial adoptee who grew up on the east coast outside of Baltimore, MD and moved to Seattle in 2024. They are deeply invested in collaborating with QTBIPOC individuals and communities to cultivate healing liberation practices, both within and outside of the therapeutic space. Some of Zi Li’s favorite pastimes include sitting by a cozy fire with friends, listening to SZA on repeat, collecting temporary tattoos, browsing memes on pinterest, and spending time outdoors, especially by a body of water!
