Aemilia Moser
Aemilia Moser is a Toronto-based coloratura soprano and violinist specializing in contemporary repertoire. She has performed a wide range of principal and supporting roles across diverse styles, from Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire to Massenet’s Cendrillon. Her operatic repertoire includes Pierrot (Pierrot Lunaire - Schoenberg), Ariel (The Tempest Songbook - Kaija Saariaho), Nora (Riders to the Sea - Vaughan Williams), Nymph (The Fairy Queen - Purcell), La Fée (Cendrillon - Massanet), La Modista and Minardi (Il capello di paglia di Firenze - Nino Rota), Virtù (L’incoronazione di Poppea - Monteverdi), and Despina (Così fan tutte - Mozart).
Equally at home on the concert and recital stage, Aemilia has appeared as a soloist in works including Michael Daugherty’s Labyrinth of Love, Abigail Richardson-Schulte’s Alligator Pie, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, Handel’s Messiah, and Mozart’s Exsultate, jubilate. She is a recent winner of the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition, a distinguished competition dedicated to the development of Canadian contemporary music and fostering the next generation of Canadian concert artists. This season she takes her prize-winning recital on a national tour with pianist Sabina Rzazade.
Aemilia is passionate about incorporating modern design into her artistic practice. In 2023, she produced the short film Sovra il sento in partnership with Manitoba Opera and vintage clothing boutique Swish Vintage. This year, she is excited to collaborate with Toronto-based fashion designers SampleGarments, wearing pieces from their latest collection on her upcoming tour to highlight interdisciplinary collaboration between Canadian artistic voices.
Aemilia holds a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto. Her current and former teachers include Tracy Dahl, Steven Leigh, Elizabeth McDonald, Robert Uchida, Mel Braun, and Elizabeth Turnbull. She currently works at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
