Club Hike at Santa Ysabel Nature Center

For our next club hike, we'll meet up at the Santa Ysabel Nature Center, located at 22135 Highway 79, Santa Ysabel, CA 92070, just north of the junction with Highway 78 where Dudley's Bakery is located. We'll hike the 3.8 mile Loop Trail which takes us on a trek through eastern and northern sections of the preserve, a sprawling 6,347 acres of protected grasslands and chaparral owned and operated by the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation. The hike is rated moderate, with an elevation gain of 649 feet. Make sure to wear a hat and bring drinking water and a walking stick/trekking pole. Dogs are OK on a leash.
We'll meet up at the center shortly after they open at 9:30 a.m., and after signing some standard waiver forms and snapping some group photos, we'll head out on the trail. Afterward, we'll want to check out the Nature Center's exhibits and then plan to grab lunch at Heroes Wood-Fired Pizza, just up the hill on California State Route 78 at Wynola Junction, 3 miles west of Julian.
