We are pleased to announce the 3rd annual Indy Chess Club Championship! All ages, skill levels, club members and non-members alike are welcome to join us for this one-day tournament with four sections. The highest performing Indy Chess member in the Open section will have their name engraved permanently for 2026 on the Indy Chess Cup!

Here are the details:

Tournament is four-round Swiss and USCF-rated (affects regular ratings), so all players must be a member of the US Chess Federation at least 24 hours prior to tournament start, and provide non-expired USCF ID# at registration. (Join at uschess.org)
Entry fee is $42 for Indy Chess members/$47 for non-members by 8/29/26 at 11:59pm, and $52 members/$57 non-members after. Join Indy Chess at indychess.org/membership.
Doors open at 8:30a, and rounds begin at 9:30am, 12:30pm, 3:00pm, and 6:00pm. All registered players in round one will be paired, so check-in is not necessary.
The time control is 60 minutes + 10 second increment.
Four sections: Club Championship Section 1800+/Open (it is only an "open" to members of Indy Chess; it is 1800+ for non-members and no "playing up" into this section is possible unless a member of Indy Chess), 1400-1799 (Upper), 1000-1399 (Middle), and unrated to 999 (Lower). September published ratings used. Provisional ratings used if otherwise unrated. Unrated may play up at TD discretion. Players may "play up" a section (exception is non-members joining the Championship section) if within 100 points for a $20 donation to that section's prize fund for the 1st place winner (make the donation at indychess.org/donate).
Prizes are the following: Open ($200, $150, $100, Top Indy Chess Member $100 bonus), Upper ($100, $75, $50, Top Indy Chess Member $50 bonus), Middle ($75, $50, $25, Top Indy Chess Member $25 bonus), Lower ($75, $50, $25, Top Indy Chess Member $25 bonus). Prizes contingent on turnout of 60+ players.
Limit one half point bye can be requested in advance. Byes for fourth round must be requested before beginning of third round.
All equipment provided.
Playing room has great lighting, padded chairs, and is accessible to wheelchairs.
Coffee/water complimentary. No food in playing room, and only drinks allowed at playing tables.
All children 12 and under must have responsible adult on-site during entirety of event. Kids can and will be disqualified if an adult is not present. Indy Chess does not provide supervision of children under 13. For children over 13, responsible adult must sign them in at check-in and leave their cell phone number. Indy Chess reserves the right to request a parent/guardian be present for any individual under 18.
Skittles room is a youth lounge with ping pong, billiards, air hockey, and more! Guest WiFi available.
Top boards may be livestreamed.
Notation of moves is required (unless time pressure). If assistance needed, contact tournament director in advance.
Fair play: No devices allowed except USCF approved notation devices that are subject to TD inspection. Phones must be turned off and face down or in bag. On-call personnel, contact TD.
No refunds after September 5. Requests before September 10 can request Indy Chess event credit. All refunds/credit subject to $10 processing fee.
