Ah! The pagan feast is upon us again! It's always darkest just before the baby is born, huh? Poor bastard being delivered to us like the ghost of a Christmas present -- a present of the Christmas ghost, ha! Fat lot of good it did to him... So light up those fires, there might be a little runt of an elf trying to sneak in to verify your moral qualities. Father Christmas, addled on holy spirit and passing final judgment on poor mortals like us. "Have you been naughty or nice, dear?" Mind your own business! Creep.But never mind the weirdo, because on Boxing Day it's time to celebrate in style! After all, morality is but a social norm and our morality is built around two axioms only: one, dancing is holy; two, the last Friday of the year is a day to be taken off work so that you can worship until the wee hours, dance, cackle madly, do whatever (or whomever) takes your fancy, jump up and down and spin round and round in a trance of passion and music and glee!
So let's acknowledge with solemn gratitude the powers who brought us a few days of respite from our toils, and gather to celebrate like kings and queens, like shepherds and virgins, like wizards, like stars, like animals, like sparks in the night who burn but for a moment but all the more brightly for that!
