Sean Burnett Dugdale-Martin is BACK with another clown workshop for those who can stomach it.Sean Burnett Dugdale-Martin (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Pākehā) is a chaotic performer and clown based in Poneke since the end of 2019 (and we all know why they had to leave Auckland). The Creative Director of RUFF AS GUTZ, Sean has project-led the award-winning ratKing in NZ Fringe 2023 and the infamous MILK saga. A notable recent performance was in NZ Fringe 2024 with the 5-time award nominated blackpill. They also recently performed Dogs in the Hole with 50 minutes of clown work devised over 3 days.
Since completing a masterclass at Gaulier's school in 2023, Sean consistently uses concepts learnt in Europe to elevate their performances. Through simple ideas executed well, Sean has found success not only in the absurd and comedic but also brings a much-needed humanness to darker, more serious characters.
This workshop will begin to get you thinking about clowning and its different uses. From games and finding the joy, to playing Major/Minor in a scene, and listening to your scene partner, you will have a chance to clown around and find what brings you joy on the floor.
The workshop will be held at a venue to be announced closer to the time, and payment is only a koha to thank Sean for their time and to help pay for the venue.
