Come take part in the Triangle's only Clown Jam! What is it?
Clown Jam is not a workshop. It is a collaborative experience open to all adults that are interested in contemporary clowning, and physical theatre. All skill levels are welcome.
Perth Clown Jam explains it best: "The "Clown Jam" is an opportunity to engage in play and celebrate your authentic self in the eyes of others.
The clown lives deep within the human psyche as the one that walks between the worlds and unites the duality of life through laughter. The clown is a powerful and healing force both wild and chaotic yet sublime and innocent and is the state which we will work to discover in these jams. Via games and exercises a process will be facilitated to connect participants to a body centred space and allow the "what works" in clown to be experienced & witnessed together."
It will be stupid. It will be ridiculous. It will be fun. We are all a mess, and failure is amazing.
PARTICIPANTS ONLY. OBSERVERS UNWELCOME. (It makes for an uncomfortable creative space.)
Where: Jewish for Good in Durham, Group Exercise Room
When: Sunday, February 5th 2pm-4pm
Cost: Free because the JCC is donating the space! They would love donations for their food pantry though so please bring some if you feel so inclined!
Ages 18+ because sometimes adults just need an adult only creative space, and kids are natural clowns anyway.
What to bring?
Clothes you can move around best in, water bottle. Nose optional.
Rough Format:
30 min. Warm up, games (Please bring some to share.)
30 min. Clown exercises (Please bring some to share.)
1 hour Create new material, work on existing material, explore exercises more, improv, collaborate with new people, share anything you want feedback on
