I am happy to announce that Clover and the Bee will be joining The Basement concert series on Friday, September 19th. When Becky Schlegel asked if CB could play at The Basement, how could I pass up the opportunity the help launch Clover and the Bee into the world? First of all, here at The Basement, we love Becky and second, Kevin Rowe is one of the OG's who helped launch The Basement back in 2022 when he walked on stage with Ryan Necci and the Buffalo Gospel (still one of the greatest nights of my life).
Clover and the Bee began as a semi-regular song swap among three friends (Eric Christopher, Anthony Ihrig and Becky Schlegel), songwriters and musical co-conspirators at Christopher’s house in the West 7th neighborhood of Saint Paul.
The three dug into their songwriting back catalogs to show off songs that were either not bluegrass enough (in the case of Ihrig and Christopher’s band The High 48s), not country enough (in the case of Becky Schlegel’s solo project) or just plain too weird or idiosyncratic for any other project.
It was at this open house for misfit songs that the three got the idea to start a new band, one whose sound showed Christopher, Ihrig and Schlegel’s country and bluegrass roots but wasn’t bound by tradition.
With the addition of bassist and songwriter Kevin Rowe (Buffalo Gospel, Space Burritos), who had recently moved to the Twin Cities from Madison, WI, Clover the Bee was born.
***IMPORTANT*** I have asked Becky to bring some of her folk art and we are going to have a little studio set up in The Basement to sell her beautiful paintings. Trust me...you will want to take something home! Check out the link below to see some samples of her work.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:
FIRST: Doors open at 7:00pm and concert starts at 7:30pm.
SECOND: Ticket donations are only $25 and can be purchased through Venmo @Mitch-Bankes and of course ALL money will go to the band. Remember...responding YES that you are going is not the same as responding YES with your money. Pay it, don't say it, or better yet do both. Like most shows, I expect this one to sell out, so get your tickets before it's too late...you have been warned. NO REFUNDS (unless event is cancelled).
THIRD: A cash or Venmo donation bar will be available with my son Anthony performing his bar tending magic. There will be cocktails, mocktails and other delicious beverages along with a few tasty snacks.
FOURTH: The Basement is NOT handicapped accessible (sorry).
FIFTH: Clover and the Bee will have merchandise available for purchase so bring some loose change to support them.
SIXTH: Go ahead and invite your friends to join you. Everyone is welcome until tickets are gone!
