About The Artist:
Through mixed media painting, drawing, and collage, Lisa Jimenez
explores the nuanced interplay among organic forms, the tranquil spaces they occupy, and the vital spectrum that imbues them with life. Her work invites the viewer to join her as a voyeur of repeated glances towards the ephemeral and how life’s narratives are formed predominantly from memory. With an approach marked by sensitivity and the evocation of the unknown, her practice resonates with the tradition of still-life studies, yet embodies a contemporary approach to the abstraction of time and memory. Jimenez’s compositions are habitually thoughtful, elevating and elongating brief moments to prompt a deeper understanding of the inherent beauty of our surroundings and the complexity of our shared human experience.
Jimenez, whose artistic journey spans her solo practice and ongoing dedication to arts education, began her path at a young age. She holds degrees in Arts Education (B.S.) and Curriculum and Instruction (M.A.) from Northern Illinois University and St. Xavier University. She has dedicated her time to nurturing and inspiring young creative minds in the Rockford and Winnebago school districts for over twenty years. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at Kortman Gallery (2019, 2023, 2024); Greenwich Village Art Fair (2023); the Illinois Art Educator Exhibition (2022); Rock Valley College (2022); Rockford Fall and Spring ArtScene (2018-2025); Fresh Fridays (2019, 2022) and at the 317 Art Collaborative and Earth Zero Waste (2024).
