Closet cosplay (or casual cosplay) is a sustainable, budget-friendly approach to costume play. Instead of building from scratch or purchasing elaborate costumes, you will capture the spirit of a character or fandom by learning more about the Closet Cosplay Method through color palette, silhouette, styling, and 1 or 2 key accessories. It’s creative, comfortable, and accessible, especially for those who are new to cosplay, working on a budget, or want to participate without months of construction time. This workshop will walk you through Closet Cosplay 101, Character Planning, and a Building Session. A shared table of borrow-able items that any attendee can use during the build session. Closet cosplay is about interpreting a character or fandom's essence, not matching a body type. Any body, any budget, any skill level.
Participants should bring:
1-3 clothing pieces from their closet that could work for their chosen character/fandom
Print out or Phone/Tablet with reference images
Any accessories already owned (belts, scarves, jewelry, hat, wig, etc.)
This is a Beginner level class.Duration: 4 hours
