About this Event
Close Encounters With Colonialism
This Halloween, join us on a curated horror trail as we walk through Amsterdam noting present day experiences of colonialsm. Experiences, conversations, landmarks that every day Amsterdammers engage in.
Concept
The past is full of horror stories. But what if the present can haunt you too? Halloween is around the corner, and we want to reveal some alternate horror stories…
Based on five different experiences, we’ve prepared a guided tour of moments and places in Amsterdam. Moments where five people have had a very real encounter with colonialism - in the present day.
The stories will be told through poetry, images and voice recordings. Join the tour to have all your senses brought to life with these deeply personal stories.
Not only will you be able to gain a deeper understanding of how colonialism persists today, but you will also have the chance to change these situations. We will share calls to action that relate to each of the stories with the participants.
They will also be published on our website after the tour.
