Clinical Ethics Symposium
About this Event
The Clinical Ethics Symposium is a one-day event that brings together clinical ethicists, healthcare practitioners, researchers, trainees, and others with an interest in clinical ethics to strengthen our local clinical ethics community. The symposium is intended to foster connections across the Ontario clinical ethics community by creating a space for colleagues and learners to connect in person. This event will offer meaningful dialogue and challenging conversations, collaboration opportunities, and shared learning.
The symposium will incorporate a reverse conference style. Case presenters will introduce complex, unresolved ethical challenges they are currently facing in practice, with presentations serving as a starting point for discussion. The emphasis is on drawing the collective expertise in the room to explore different perspectives, share experiences, and collaboratively think through difficult cases, system challenges, or emerging research ideas.
The objectives of the symposium are to:
1. Strengthen relationships and collaboration within the local and provincial clinical ethics community.
2. Create opportunities for ethicists to discuss challenging issues arising in practice.
3. Foster dialogue and peer learning by encouraging participants to contribute their own perspectives and experiences.
4. Support students and early-career professionals by providing opportunities to engage with experienced clinical ethicists and expand their professional networks.
5. Build an ongoing community of practice that extends beyond the symposium.
Who this is for?
Clinical ethicists, trainees, and anyone doing ethics work in Ontario healthcare and related settings with a focus on clinical and applied programs. The Symposium will use a deliberative approach to discussing ethical issues, which welcomes participation from both academic and non-academic participants.

The event will take place at Scholar's Square in Weldon Library.
