Join us for an exciting in-person event on Saturday September 21 at Oden Brewing Company on W Gate City Boulevard in Greensboro, NC, USA. This event is all about diving deep into climate science and understanding the impact of climate change on our planet. Whether you're a climate enthusiast or just curious, this is your chance to learn from experts and engage with the community. Understanding climate science is hard but it's important we get to grips with it. The Climate Fresk turns climate science into a game.

Your facilitators are Allison Whitaker and Sarah Rawleigh who volunteer their time to facilitate Climate Fresk workshops. Allison began delivering these workshops in the winter of 2020 and has since helped more than 350 people understand the interconnected nature of climate change. She's one of the most experienced facilitators delivering this workshop in the US and is a Climate Fresk Trainer. Her passion for climate education extends to her role as an educator with the North Carolina State Climate Office. Sarah is a licensed clinical social worker with a big heart for environmental activism and climate justice. She lives in Greensboro, runs a private practice as a therapist, and offers community workshops, including Climate Fresks and Climate Cafes.

About this Event

➡️ Please only sign up if you actually intend to show up. These are small group (14 participants max with 7 people max in each smaller Fresk group) workshops so no-shows make it quite frustrating.

➡️ There is a sliding scale fee to participate: $5 - reduced rate for students, retirees, and tight budgets, $10 - supportive rate, and $20 - generous rate (All proceeds will be donated to Climate Fresk and to cover workshop-related expenses)

➡️ The workshop will start at 12:00 pm. We've added an extra 30 minutes at the beginning to allow people time to arrive and get drinks and food. 🍺🍴There may be a food truck at the brewery, but plan to have lunch before you come.

➡️ This is an interactive workshop that allows participants to map climate science, learn together, and challenge assumptions.

Group size is limited to 14 people | Workshop is 3 hours with a break in the middle. You will need to be there for the entire 3 hours and your active participation is required.

At the end of the workshop, you will have

• A clearer understanding of the cause and effect of the climate science
• A visual overview of the interconnectedness
• Tested your own knowledge and assumptions

Climate Fresk is a French-based NGO, with the aim to make climate science more accessible using graphs and data from the UN's climate scientists, the IPCC*. The Climate Fresk is sponsored by Valérie Masson-Delmotte, Co-Chair of the IPCC working group I.

You will work as a team to find the cause & effect relationships between the 42 cards. Collectively, you will build a collage explaining climate change.

Is there a cost?

Yes. We have a sliding scale: $5 - reduced rate for students, retirees, and tight budgets, $10 - supportive rate, and $20 - generous rate

Fees collected from this Fresk will be donated to Climate Fresk, the organization, and used to partially cover event expenses.

Why is there a fee? We find that people who sign up usually show up when they also pay a fee. It also helps us cover event related expenses.
