After exploring topics such as Relocation & Climate Refugees, Climate & Bio-Diversity, Sustainability Across Industries, and Climate Anxiety & Mental Health - the final program in our Climate Crisis series will exemplify the mentality of “think global, act local.” Climate Change is the Global Issue that Defines Our Era, but global issues require local solutions. To this end, our program series series concludes on a hopeful note, with a focus on Solutions and The Path Forward!
Thank you to our Supporting Sponsor, Missouri Coalition for the Environment, for their involvement with this program! Missouri Coalition for the Environment is the perfect example of a community-based organization working to forge a path forward!
About The Program: This panel discussion will be centered around innovative ways to combat the climate crisis which are taking place within the Kansas City metropolitan area, ways in which children are being introduced to the concepts of health, wellness, the environment, and the duty of care our population has towards the environment, as well as the ways in which city and county officials are making strategic plans to combat the climate crisis. This program will look at solutions on a variety of scales, on the individual, community-wide, and regional levels with the help of three Kansas Citians working to forge a path forward on a variety of scales.
Following the panel discussion, we will feature a keynote presentation from Kansas City’s Chief Environmental Officer, Andy Savastino, who will give our audience an update on the progress of Kansas City’s Regional Climate Action & Resilliency Plan.
Please note that like all programs in this series, attendance to this program is free to IRC Members and under a “pay what you can” model for non-members. We are offering an option with lunch (courtesy of Grandma’s Catering) for $15.
