"Climate Crisis Cabaret: The Warm-Up" is a new cabaret fusing the arts and climate activism.
Yes, come to this Cabaret, ol’ chums … to the Climate Crisis Cabaret, directed by Debra Wise and David Keohane, with emcee John Kuntz. This is a “Warm-Up” for what we hope will be a series, a performance endeavor whose fusion of theater and activism meets the moment.
Ideally our Cabaret will inspire others in our community to act while it encourages more climate crisis programming among our local theaters.
“Climate Crisis Cabaret: The Warm-Up” participants:
Debra Wise (CCC co-director, performer, CCC lead organizer), David Keohane (CCC co-director, performer), John Kuntz (emcee/performer), Eliza Fichter (performer), Regie Gibson (performer), Seth Glier (performer), Bill Marx (performer, CCC lead organizer) with Phyllis Ewen (visual artist), Antje Duvekot (performer), Red Rebel Brigade (street performers/activists), Sara Peattie (puppeteer/installation artist), Joyce Van Dyke (playwright, CCC lead organizer), Dr. Robert Lauer (scientist/activist), Dr. Rose Abramoff (scientist/activist), Dr. Johanna Ray Vollhardt (psychologist/activist), Dr. Nathan Phillips (scientist/activist), Professor Belinda Tato (landscape architect/activist), Rose Schwietz Malla (stage director), Katra Laidlaw (stage director), Zoe Halperin (performer), Rhiannon Jenkins (performer), Isaijah Shadrach (philosophy PhD candidate/activist), and Zev Imani (physics PhD candidate/activist)
Among the featured writers and artists: Anton Chekhov, Madeleine George, Elana Greenfield, Duncan MacMillan, Ted Hughes, and Phyllis Ewen. The performance will be followed by a lively post-show conversation among performers, scientists, and activists. Also helping to get the word out about what can be done: a lobby streetfair of groups engaged in climate activism.
