A practical Lunch & Learn on reducing reactive work, improving visibility and building simpler systems for a more manageable business.
About this Event

Running a business can easily become a juggling act.

Client work, enquiries, admin, projects, messages, decisions and recurring tasks can quickly accumulate. As responsibilities multiply, it becomes harder to keep track of what matters, what is falling behind and what should happen next.

The result is often not simply “too much work”. It is too much work being manually coordinated through your inbox, your memory and your attention.

Business Without the Burnout is a practical, non-technical session exploring how clearer processes and simpler systems can reduce operational overload.

We will look at how work becomes unnecessarily reactive, how to identify the points where your business is relying too heavily on manual effort, and how to create more structure without adding more complexity.

Whether you are managing several income streams, coordinating client projects or trying to make a growing business run more smoothly, the session will help you identify where simpler systems could reduce pressure.

What we will cover
  • Why work becomes harder to manage as responsibilities multiply
  • How to recognise invisible admin and recurring operational friction
  • Where work commonly breaks down across enquiries, projects, client delivery and everyday admin
  • How clearer processes can reduce repeated decisions, missed follow-ups and unnecessary chasing
  • How better visibility can reduce the need to keep everything in your head
  • Where tools, automation and AI can genuinely help and where they may create more work instead

You will also have the opportunity to apply the ideas to a real workflow or recurring challenge from your own work.

Who is this for?

This session is designed for:

  • Small business owners
  • Freelancers and sole traders
  • Founders managing several services or income streams
  • People coordinating multiple projects or clients
  • Small teams looking to reduce admin and improve visibility
  • Anyone who feels that everyday work has become more reactive than it needs to be

No technical knowledge is required. The focus is on practical working habits, processes and systems rather than complicated software or AI hype.

About the Clear Work series

The Clear Work series helps founders and teams recognise the hidden friction inside everyday work: inbox overload, unclear decisions, scattered tools, manual chasing and unnecessary complexity.

The sessions are practical, discussion-led and designed to be applied immediately.

Optional Workflow Clinic

There will also be an opportunity to speak to Robert in an informal one-to-one Workflow Clinic before or after the workshop.

Bring one recurring problem, bottleneck or process that is taking up too much of your time. The clinic is designed to help you identify a clearer starting point.

About the speaker

Robert James Lucas is the founder of Workflow Reboot, helping businesses understand what needs fixing before they spend money on AI, automation or new software.

His work focuses on operational clarity: identifying where work becomes unnecessarily complicated, reducing avoidable admin and designing practical improvements that support the way a business actually operates.

His background includes communications, change management and systems work at Thomson Reuters, small-business policy roles with the Federation of Small Businesses, and practical workflow reviews for growing businesses.
