WaterFire Providence presents Clear Currents!
Made possible with support from Brown University and Amica Insurance, Clear Currents is WaterFire's annual community paddling event celebrating clean water in Rhode Island. Up to 80 registered kayakers take to the water after sunset, each carrying an illuminated Japanese koi lantern — paddling among the 76 wood-burning braziers for one of the most unique ways to experience a WaterFire lighting.
On shore, enjoy live performances and browse food and craft vendors open throughout the evening.
Who can participate:
Open to experienced paddlers ages 18 and older with their own solo kayak under 14 feet. Paddle boards, canoes, inflatable kayaks, and outriggers are not permitted. Participants must bring their own kayak, paddles, and personal flotation device.
Registration
$50 per solo kayak, including a commemorative Clear Currents t-shirt. WaterFire provides and installs the illuminated fish on your kayak. Paddlers are divided into six schools — include the names of anyone joining you when you register so you can paddle together.
Full refunds available until ticket sales close. A $125 cancellation fee applies after that. Rain or shine.
