About this Event
This class will provide an overview of applicable federal and Nevada law governing services and support for youth preparing to exit foster care and transition to independence. The CLE will cover the role of the independent living caseworker, transition planning, and financial and educational support. Attendees will leave with several practices and tips to help teenagers and young adult clients, along with a working knowledge of state and federal law applicable to teens in care.
Dewey Fowler, Esq.; Samantha Zabo, Esq.; Jaymie Junsay; and Ollie Hernandez of the Children's Attorneys Project (CAP) will present the course in-person in the Engelstad Family Classroom at Legal Aid Center. Attorneys who refer others to this CLE can receive a free Starbucks gift card.
Nevada-licensed or emeritus-certified attorneys can earn 1.5 general CLE credits by attending. To receive credit, attorneys must be active volunteers with the Pro Bono Project. You can select a case or sign up for Ask-A-Lawyers from www.lacsnprobono.org.
