About this Event
“Clay & Know Your Rights”
A Community Fundraiser Workshop for Immigrant Justice
A collaboration between Mission Action and Artillery A.G. + Ceramics
Event Overview
Clay Visions & Know Your Rights is a community-centered fundraiser that brings together creativity, education, and collective care.
Hosted in collaboration with Mission Action, this gathering supports the Deportation Defense & Legal Advocacy Program (DDLAP) while inviting participants to reflect on their hopes, wishes, and visions for our Mission District community.
Through clay, conversation, and shared intention, we create space to ground ourselves, learn our rights tp protect each other, and make offerings for a future rooted in dignity, safety, and belonging.
All ticket proceeds directly benefit Mission Action’s Deportation Defense & Legal Advocacy Program, which provides critical legal support to immigrant families facing deportation and detention.
Grounding the Gathering:
Living Altars & Community Vision Board Offerings
This event is connected to The Living Altars by Ivan Lopez , a Mission District public art project that invites neighbors to set down wishes, intentions, and visions for our community through a shared ritual and creative offering.
During this workshop, participants will be introduced to the Living Altars project and invited to create a ceramic ofrenda (offering)—a small vision board in clay—representing what they wish for the community: such as protection, justice, healing, safety, belonging. The wishes are endless and unique to you.
Participants are encouraged to:
- Name a wish or intention for the Mission District and our immigrant community.
- Hold that wish while creating their clay offering
- Continue the practice by visiting the Living Altars installed throughout the Mission and setting their intention down in shared journals at each site
In this way, the gathering becomes part of a larger, ongoing collective vision carried across the neighborhood.
