About this Event

Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Clay Workshop

With Shapeshift by Meg Fu at On the Easel Studios

Ever had an idea for a little ceramic object and thought, "I could probably make that…"?

Now you can.

Join Meg Fu for a playful, beginner-friendly handbuilding workshop where you choose what you want to make. You'll work with warm-toned, off-white stoneware clay and create a small functional piece inspired by whatever your brain cooks up.

Think:

  • ☕ A cup
  • 🥣 A little bowl
  • 🧄 A garlic grater
  • 🫙 A catch-all dish
  • 🍽️ A snack plate
  • 🕯️ An ashtray
  • Or something entirely your own

No prior experience is necessary. Meg will introduce you to the basics of handbuilding, demonstrate the tools and techniques you'll need, and help you bring your idea to life. After that, you'll have plenty of room to experiment, play, and make the piece your own.

What to Expect

This is a hands-on, relaxed workshop designed for beginners. You'll learn the fundamentals of working with clay, including basic handbuilding techniques, shaping, joining pieces, and adding personal details.

All clay, tools, and materials needed for the workshop are included.

Once the workshop is over, Meg will take care of the rest. Your piece will be dried, fired, glazed, and fired again before it's ready for you to take home.

Finished pieces are typically ready for pickup or shipping within approximately 4–6 weeks.

A Little Note About Clay

Ceramics is a slow process—and that's part of the magic. Your piece will go through several stages after the workshop, including drying, firing, glazing, and a final firing.

While we'll take great care of your work, clay has a mind of its own. Cracking, warping, or breakage can occasionally happen during the drying or firing process. We can't guarantee that every piece will survive the journey, but we'll do our best to give your creation the best possible chance.
