Enjoy learning hand building construction and decoration techniques on this fun 4 session course. Hand building provides endless making and decorating possibilities for decorative and functional ware. We provide a mix of structured and free choice projects ideal for beginners and improvers, so relax and make supported throughout by two of our talented potters. Course content
Wk 1. Pinch pot and coil techniques used to create a planter or vase adding your own textures/ embellishments.
Wk 2. Slab building techniques used to create a mug or jug learning handle and foot ring making skills as well.
Wk 3. Working with colour, we will make and create an item of choice from a marbled slab that you will produce. On another make of choice you will work with coloured slips which we will sgraffito next week.
Wk 4. Glazing, you will learn glazing techniques to use on the pots made in weeks 1&2 and complete a sgraffito design on the slip pot from week3.
Your pottery will be fired and ready for collection 2 weeks from course end.
Tuition, clay quota and firings is included in the course price of £120.
Maximum 8 attendees
Further to this course, If you wish to continue your pottery journey we offer studio sessions for continued and pop in support. We can fire any pots you start to make at home for you and can happily supply materials/tools.
