About this Event
Welcome to Clay Catchall Dish Workshop with Joy O'Conner of EARTHENjoy!
Come join us at Larissa Loden HQ for a fun and creative clay workshop where you'll learn the basics of making a catchall dish for holding objects, for use in home rituals, or for snacking.
Led by local ceramicist Joy O'Conner of EARTHENjoy Ceramics, class will start with making your own template (or use one provided) to cut a custom dish shape from a slab of clay. Joy will demonstrate the sgraffito technique using glazes, wax resist and loop tools to scratch in surface decoration details.
Finished pieces will be sent back with Joy to be fired in her kiln, clear glazed, and fired once more. The firing process can take up to 6 weeks, after which the catchalls may be picked up at Larissa Loden.
This in-person event is for adults (18+) and is great for beginners! All materials will be provided. Attendees will need to return to Larissa Loden to pick up completed projects after firing is complete (approx. 6 weeks).
In this class, you can expect:
➡ Expert guidance: Joy will guide you step-by-step through the basics of working with clay.
➡ Goodies to take home: Each participant will create a catchall dish that, after firing, will be available for pickup at Larissa Loden.
➡ Food & fun: Light brunch snacks and drinks are included in your ticket price. You can denote gluten-free or vegan at the time of ticket purchase.
