Learn the biomechanics of classical lateral work from turns on the forehand to half-pass and everything in between. Participants will learn how the classical gymnastics are not only beautiful movements in themselves, but also rehabilitative in nature, and can be utilized to overcome asymmetry to balance and collect the horse. The first day will cover lateral work in-hand, and the second day will be under saddle. The clinic includes 2 hours of classroom per day to delve into the theory behind the classical gymnastics. You will learn the biomechanics of the movements from the horse's perspective on the first day to go with our in-hand work, and rider biomechanics on the second day. The classroom portion on the second day will involve unmounted exercises to help you understand the aids, body position and flow required to effectively communicate with your horse in lateral work. Anna Lewis will lead Qigong sessions before we begin working with the horses each day. Both Qigong and the lateral work will help tune into energies within us, our environment, and our horses to achieve a better flow, balance, and harmony. A nourishing, gourmet lunch, beverages, and snacks are provided both days.
