An evening of improvised music, featuring a new improvising woodwind group Terrarium!
About this Event

Sunjay Jayaram is a violist, violinist and improviser who enjoys playing in a wide variety of styles including traditional and contemporary classical music as well as jazz, and more. He is the current violist in Sirius Quartet, a progressive chamber group that plays its own music.

Kerry Lewis is a bass player from New Orleans, Louisiana. He enjoys playing a variety of styles of music and is fortunate to have opportunities to do so here in NYC. He received his undergraduate degree in Music Liberal Arts from Xavier University in 2023.

Terrarium -

A musical ensemble that intends to create and uplift a unique musical pathway for the age-old woodwind chamber ensemble by more seamlessly blurring borders between performance, improvisation, composition, and experimentation/exploration. Terrarium deepens the possibilities of what intimate, communal music-making can be and highlights the immense impact of what “chamber music” is: a medium to build, refine, and transform meaningful relationships with others. Each member comes to the ensemble with their own deep musical and lived experience, varied forms of training, and diverse artistry, creating a significant human connection that transcends any form of imposed human boundary.
