About this Event
CLASS ONE: Why is labor so much work? (Labor flow)
This class introduces folks to the concept of labor, and grounds them in the physiology. The person will leave with an understanding of the anatomy and physiology involved in the labor process. The class includes the stages of labor, including pre-labor or early first stage, what to expect as the body prepares in late pregnancy. When to call the birth team or go to the place of birth is emphasized. The deep trust in the body undergirds this class, and facilitates the priciple of instinctual pushing. This class concludes with the birth of the placenta and the immediate postpartum.
The three-hour class forms the basis of the core series of four. It is vitally important for first-time birthing folks, and for individuals who have had a complex first birth. The class is interactive, multi-sensory, and uses hands-on tools.
