3-Day WorkshopSaturdays; May 30th, June 6th & 13th from 10:00am-1:15pm
In this Beginner to Intermediate Watercolor Workshop, students will explore a variety of techniques to understand the qualities of the watercolor medium while developing brush control, including pigment to water ratio and physics of the paper. Learn from instructor demonstrations, guided exercises, and personal painting experiences. Students will be working from photographs and still life as they develop a fundamental understanding of each of these skills.
Week 1: Fluid Washes and Calligraphic Strokes Using Water Tension and Brush Manipulation
Week 2: Pigment and Paper to Water Ratio for Edge Control
Week 3: Wet into Wet, Layering Transparent Pigment and Weaving Pigments for Texture
Students have the option to bring their own supplies. A suggested supply list is included on the back of this form. Or for an additional fee, supplies will be included.
Jennifer Koury is a Buffalo-based artist, freelance illustrator, and arts educator. She holds degrees in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University and Illustration from Art Center College of Design, California and she has been teaching at various Art Centers around the area.
Koury is represented by Meibohm Fine Arts, East Aurora, NY. She has exhibited her paintings in both solo and group shows around the region, and won awards, including being finalist in the Chautauqua Annual Exhibition of Contemporary Art. Her art is featured in the NFWS Mary Whyte Gallery Walk video, George Washington's Mount Vernon Visitor Center in Virginia, and Yuma Regional Medical Center in Arizona, and her illustrations have appeared in many children's books. She is a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, and a signature member of the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society.
