                                    	About this Event
As part of DCU’s day-long literature programme, Class Acts: Equality, Connection and Belonging, this lunchtime poetry event brings together three compelling voices whose work explores underrepresented lives with clarity, empathy, and depth.
Hosted in the atmospheric Belvedere Library—where winter light filters through tall windows—join us for an intimate reading featuring poets Colm Keegan (Dublin), Charles Lang (Glasgow), and Clíodhna Bhreatnach (Waterford). Each poet offers a distinct approach to themes of working-class identity, belonging, and emotional resilience.
Colm Keegan writes with urgency and compassion, about working-class lives and urban pressures through poetry that is unflinching, humane, and deeply grounded.
Charles Lang’s work is steeped in the rhythms and vernacular of Glasgow, capturing the raw edges of coming-of-age with tenderness, wit, and a strong sense of place.
Clíodhna Bhreatnach brings a sharp awareness of contemporary unease—emotional, social, and environmental—crafting vivid poetic worlds of attention, contrast, and quiet resistance.
The event will be moderated by Dr Kit Fryatt, poet and Assistant Professor in the School of English at DCU.
