For the 25th year, Clarinettissimo will be October 4 & 5 on the campus of Seattle Pacific University. This annual, free clarinet festival features two Concerts, three Master-Classes, Vendors selling clarinet, music, and accessories, a Clarinet Olympics for younger students, a Workshop on Extended Techniques, and a Community Clarinet Choir for players aged 8 to 80. Music lovers of all kinds will enjoy the nightly performances at 7:30pm featuring special guest Chad Burrow of the University of Michigan, along with Metropolitan Opera clarinetists Sean Osborn, SPU clarinetist Mary Kantor, PNB clarinetist Jennifer Nelson, and Florie Rothenberg from Symphony Tacoma. Exciting and beautiful music from Mendelssohn, Martinu, and Poulenc will be heard along with David Baker’s jazzy Sonata, Eugene Bozza’s strange Bucolique, Stella Sung’s ethereal Abstractions, and more.
