About this Event
Join the Alliance for Police Accountability (APA) for a half-day Civil Society Briefing Session focused on the latest developments in the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC)Police Race Action Plan (PRAP) and the emerging Civil Society Oversight Model.
After a particularly eventful summer, including major shifts at government level and the appointment of a new Home Secretary, this session provides an important opportunity to reconnect, reflect on progress, and plan the next steps in our collective advocacy for racial justice and police accountability.
During this session, we will:
- Share the latest updates and insights from ongoing discussions with the Home Office and NPCC.
- Present and discuss the draft proposed framework for a Civil Society Oversight Structure, developed through APA’s workshops and consultations with partner organisations.
- Engage with key statutory partners, including confirmed representation from the NPCC, with invitations to be extended to the Home Office, College of Policing, the Idepenedrent Scrutiny & Overisght Board (ISOB) and the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
This briefing will create space to assess the current policy landscape, consider shared priorities, and shape the way forward for independent, civil society-led oversight.
Following the session, participants will be invited to review the draft oversight model in detail and submit amendments and feedback by late November 2025.
Kindly note that an agenda will be circulated shortly along with a copy of the proposed independent overisght framework model for review.
Refreshments will be provided on the day.
