About this Event

We are honored to present conductor Kedrick Armstrong, lauded by the Chicago Tribune for his ability to “simply let the score speak for itself.” Kedrick's extensive repertoire, spanning from early music to new premieres, reflects his deep joy and curiosity for all music. As the Creative Partner and Principal Conductor of the Galesburg Symphony Society, Kedrick fosters collaboration and understanding within diverse communities.

This season, Kedrick's engagements include assisting with Terrence Blanchard’s Champion at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and making his subscription debut with the Oakland Symphony and Chorus, premiering a new oratorio by Carlos Simon. His future endeavors will take him to the Opera Theater of Saint Louis, Portland Opera, Atlanta Opera, and further performances with the Oakland Symphony.

Kedrick’s recent highlights include debuting at the Lyric Opera of Chicago with the new opera The Factotum and assistant/cover roles at the Opera Theater of St. Louis. Recognized by the Washington Post as a rising star in classical music, Kedrick is a passionate advocate for the performance and preservation of minority voices in classical music. His work includes a research fellowship with the American Music Research Center and numerous speaking engagements on this vital topic.
