About this Event
Civic Dialogues and the Haggerty Museum of Art will co-host a conversation with Hahrie Han, a political scientist at Johns Hopkins University and recent MacArthur ‘Genius’ Award recipient, along with Marquette Professor Julia Azari. This conversation will be followed by small group discussions.
Marquette University’s Civic Dialogue Dinner Series offers an opportunity for the campus and public to enjoy a dinner while discussing the complex causes of public problems, what we should do to address them, and how we might promote the common good.
Hahrie Han is the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Professor in the Department of Political Science at Johns Hopkins University, where she also serves as the inaugural director of the SNF Agora Institute and as the faculty director of the P3 Lab. She is the author of five books, including the recent “Undivided: The Quest for Racial Solidarity in An American Church.”
Julia Azari is Professor in the Department of Political Science and Director of the Civic Dialogues program at Marquette University. Her research and teaching interests include the American presidency, American political parties, political communication and American political development. Her recent book “Backlash Presidents: From Transformative to Reactionary Leaders in American History” was published in 2025 by Princeton University Press.
Attendees do not need any previous experience or expertise – just a desire to listen and learn from one another as we engage the world with purpose.
Pizza and refreshments will be provided.
