City Tech Theatreworks Presents: The Rubin Brothers Theater Show!

Boston-based entertainers AJ & Colescott Rubin present a brand new theater show! As seen on American Idol, The Rubin Brothers present an interactive musical comedy circus show that combines multi-instrumentalist skills with snappy original songs, slapstick and improvised humor, brotherly stage antics, storytelling, & circus tricks. This is a family-friendly show for audiences of all ages, celebrating vaudeville and its inherent diversity, and perhaps most of all, the possibility of warmth and playful expression in the face of anything. Come for the unicycling jazz band, stay for the radical joy!

Real life brothers AJ Rubin & Colescott Rubin are time-traveling musical entertainers with a whimsical flair for vaudeville & circus. They are known internationally for playing snappy originals while unicycling, juggling, doing acrobatics, and other stage antics. They play sold out shows coast to coast for audiences of all ages, and appeared on American Idol 2024. Past collaborators include several Grammy winners: Esperanza Spalding, John Legend, Old Crow Medicine Show, Patrice Rushen, Catherine Russell, Charmaine Neville, Chuck Israels & others. They performed at the Essentially Ellington and Monterey Jazz Festivals as teens, and since have performed across the US and around the world in Iceland, Russia, Spain, Argentina, Greece, Mexico, and elsewhere. They each graduated Berklee College of Music on scholarships summa cum laude (Colescott '20 & AJ '24) and have also presented workshops there. In 2023, they played stadium shows as the house brass band for the major league rugby team, the New England Free Jacks, and made their debut with multiple circuses in NYC. In 2024, they crowdfunded their first quartet of records, and in 2025 are writing their next record of children’s music for their ultimate dream: a kids TV show inspired by their hero, Mr. Rogers.
