City of Water Day: Water and Fireflies at the Greenway Botanical Garden
About this Event
City of Water day celebrates access to the water. We'll cover how water conservation is tied to plantings along waterfront Greenways and learn about the plant and insect life water supports. Specifically for this night event, we'll learn about fireflies, observe them in our native wildflower meadow and learn how native plants and water support these bioluminescent insects in the stages of their lifecycle. Participants will observe fireflies in the landscape after dark and learn traits of the insect genus and species with a gardener-led talk and catch-and-release observation on site. Build skills in making observations in natural spaces.
