Teen Week is a city-wide celebration of teen creativity, intelligence, activism and mental wellness during the week of May 1-6, 2023. More information and registration for programs is available at MountainView.gov/TeenWeek.
The idea for Teen Week stemmed from the developmental asset “Community Values Youth, whereas youth perceive that adults in the community value children and youth”. Research shows that youth who feel valued in their community enjoy better mental health; a greater sense of personal control and optimism, reduced crime, violence and fighting; less substance abuse; and higher academic performance. Unfortunately, only 22% of teens in Silicon Valley reported feeling valued by their community. As part of Teen Week, there will be a series of teen-centric events such as Teen Open Mic Night, an Art Showcase, Expressive Activities and a City Council Proclamation.
We invite you to attend Teen Week events and to continue to appreciate, support, and inspire the teens in our community. Teen Week is sponsored by the City of Mountain View Recreation Division and the Youth Advisory Committee. For questions, please email the YAC or call 650-903-6404.
