Dennis Carson | Director, Economic Development
A certified Economic Development Financial Professional, Dennis Carson has worked to enhance Indiana’s economic health since 1992. He currently pursues this as executive director of the Lafayette Urban Enterprise Association Inc., a post he’s held since 1994, and as Director of the City of Lafayette Economic Development Department, a post he assumed in early 2005.
Over the years, Carson has assisted in industry expansions; hotel, restaurant and retail construction and developments; downtown revitalization; urban renewal; housing projects; brownfield conversions; workforce development; and numerous other community developments.
Carson holds a bachelor’s degree in business marketing and management from Ball State University, and he pursued advanced studies in its urban and regional planning master’s program and Indiana Economic Development Academy.
He is also co-founder of MatchBOX Coworking Studio, Greater Lafayette’s leading coworking facility. MatchBOX is a place to create and collaborate for entrepreneurs, small business startups and anyone with idea or desire for change or disruption. Dennis serves as Director of Economic Development for MatchBOX and its Board of Directors.
John Collier | Assistant Director, Economic Development
John received a B.S. of Landscape Architecture from Purdue University in 1984 and has lived and worked in the Greater Lafayette community since then. He enjoyed a 32-year career at Purdue as campus landscape architect and then director of campus master planning. He retired from Purdue in 2016 and has worked for the City of Lafayette since then as the Assistant Director of Economic Development. In his role with the city, John works with downtown and community planning projects and serves as staff liaison to the Historic Preservation Commission and Parking Commission. John also serves on the Board of Directors for both the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation and the Long Center for the Performing Arts.
