City of Fairfax Police Department: Police Officer Recruiting Event

We are happy to invite you to a recruiting event at the City of Fairfax Police Department (3730 Blenheim Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22030) on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

During the recruiting event, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the police officer positions we have available and get insight to what a career in law enforcement with the City of Fairfax is like.

Our team will be there to answer any questions you may have about the application process and help guide you.

Here are some of the benefits we offer our police officers:

· Sick leave: 104 hours/year

· Annual leave: Years 1 through 3, get 13 Days; years 4-14, get 19.5 Days; years 15 and beyond, get 26 Days

· Six weeks of parental leave

· $5,000 annual bonus for foreign language skills (certified biennially through testing)

· Two retirements: City of Fairfax retirement after 25 years of service, VA state retirement (VRS) after 30 years of service

· 457 deferred compensation plan

· Take-home vehicle (mileage limitations apply)

· Fixed patrol shifts, no rotations, and every other weekend is a three-day weekend

· On-duty fitness program

· Shift differential ($1.00 per hour for midnight shift)

Competitive Pay and Hiring Incentives:

· Starting base pay: $64,466.72 (after two years of service: $74,329.66 as Private First Class)

· Starting base pay with a bachelor's degree or four years minimum of military service: $67,206.55 (after two years of service: $77,488.67 as Private First Class)

· Starting base pay with master's degree's: $70,062.83 (after two years of service: $80,781.94 as Private First Class)

· Increased starting base pay for Certified Officers based on years of service (three-year minimum)

Are you a recently retired Virginia Law Enforcement Officer? We would love to talk to you, too. If you have retired from another Virginia agency within the last five years you may still be eligible to get re-certified and return to work!
