The Details

Join us for a day of tree planting and woodland management and become a Citizen Forester with City of Trees!

We will be planting trees adjacent to the river Medlock; planting native, woodland specialist wildflower bulbs and carrying out various woodland management tasks, such as coppicing hazel. This work involves the use of spades and sharp tools like pruning saws and loppers. As a result, this activity is suitable for adults only. We are carrying out this work to maintain a healthy and sustainable woodland that supports local wildlife and the surrounding community!

All tools will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Drop in for an hour or stay the whole day - you will be guided throughout the day so no prior experience is necessary.

Time & Location

• 10am - 3pm. We will start at 10am, please note we may finish earlier than 3pm if all the work is completed. Please arrive as close to 10am as possible.

Parking/public transport

• There is free on road parking on Edge Lane and Millstream Lane.
• The following bus routes stop outside the Tuck Shop (Stop ID: MANDAPGM): 171, 172. The Edge Lane tram stop is approximately 20 minutes away.

About the site

Clayton Vale is a publicly accessible green space. The area where we will be working has a mixture of uneven ground, thick vegetation, ground trodden paths and hard standing paths. There will be access to an accessible toilet at the Tuck Shop, where we will meet.

A member of City of Trees staff will greet you at 10am outside the Tuck Shop (What3words: ///unity.bend.sock). If you arrive later, please contact Hannah on 07519 326206. You are welcome to join us for part of the day; however, if tasks are completed early, please be aware that the session may finish earlier than advertised.
