Circuit des Yeux:
Haley Fohr, den Chicago-baserede musiker, komponist og multikunstner, som står bag kunstnernavnet Circuit des Yeux, har en dyb og rå stemmeføring, som er svær at ryste af sig. Den spænder ikke bare over fire oktaver, men også over melodiske hooks, dyrelignende skrig og klagesang. Det er med god grund, at stemmen er centrum i Circuit des Yeux’ intense, musikalske univers, der trækker på både syret folk, dramatisk rock, avantgarde, orkestrale kompositioner, elektroniske klange og jazzet improvisation. For Haley Fohr synger med et næsten foruroligende nærvær. Flere gange har ALICE haft glæden af at præsentere hende på vores scene, og vi glæder os umådeligt til at opleve den evigt foranderlige kunstner endnu en gang!
Circuit des Yeux er aktuel med albummet ‘Halo on the inside’, som udkom i marts i år på Matador Records. På forskellig vis handler sangene på albummet om transformationer og forandringer. Albummet, der er produceret af Andrew Broder, som også har arbejdet sammen med bla. Jenny Lewis, Bon Iver og Lambchop, modtog roser i medier såsom Pitchfork, The Quietus og God is in the TV. Da hun optrådte på Roskilde Festival i 2017, blev Circuit des Yeux’ koncert anbefalet i Politiken, som sammenlignede hende med både Nico og Nina Hagen, og i Weekendavisen blev koncerten fremhævet som én af festivalens højdepunkter. “I can make a radio break” synger Haley Fohr på det storladne, dansable og Depeche Mode-agtige nummer “Canopy of Eden” fra ‘Halo on the inside’. Portal Pets:
Mørk, mystisk og teatralsk. Sådan kan man beskrive Portal Pets, et nyt projekt, der er vokset ud af den Københavnske undergrund. Bag duoen står Xenia Xamanek og Emil Palme, der hver især har markeret sig som musikere herhjemme, særligt inden for de eksperimenterende genrer. Guitar og vokal er grundpillerne i deres fælles lyd, der bærer referencer til alt fra indie rock, folk, metal og abstrakt elektronisk. I den forener de det profane og det overjordiske.
Med et lyrisk univers, der blander spansk og engelsk, delikate melodier og hjemsøgende, soniske strukturer, søger Portal Pets at bringe lytterne et sted hen, hvor skønhed, sorg og magi eksisterer side om side. Duoen har et album på trapperne, som bliver udgivet til februar næste år. Haley Fohr, the Chicago-based musician, composer, and multidisciplinary artist behind the moniker Circuit des Yeux, possesses a vocal expression that’s hard to shake. Her voice stretches not only across four octaves but also across melodic hooks, animalistic bleats, and elemental wails. It’s no wonder her voice is at the heart of Circuit des Yeux’s maximalist, musical universe, which draws on psychedelic folk, dramatic rock, avant-garde elements, orchestral compositions, electronic textures, and jazz improvisation. Haley Fohr sings with a presence that borders on the eerie. ALICE has had the pleasure of hosting her on our stage multiple times, and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome this ever-evolving artist once again!
In March, Circuit des Yeux released the album ‘Halo on the Inside’ on Matador Records. In different ways, the songs on the album explore themes of metamorphosis and change. Portal Pets:
Dark, mysterious, and theatrical. That’s how one might describe Portal Pets, a new project emerging from the Copenhagen underground. The duo consists of Xenia Xamanek and Emil Palme, both of whom have already made their mark on the Danish music scene, particularly within experimental genres. Guitar and vocals form the foundation of their shared sound, which carries references to everything from indie rock and folk to metal and abstract electronic. In their music, the earthly and the otherworldly intertwine.
With a lyrical universe that blends Spanish and English, celestial melodies, and haunting sonic structures, Portal Pets aims to take listeners to a place where beauty, sorrow, and magic coexist. The duo has an album on the way, set to be released in February next year.
